Where Systematic Flying Begins ......One Flight at a Time

Systematic Aviation Training

ABOUT US

At Navion AeroStrategy, we believe that exceptional pilots are shaped by exceptional instructors. That’s why every member of our instructional team is a career flight instructor—not someone passing through, not someone time‑building, and not someone treating instructing as a stepping stone. Our instructors have chosen teaching as their craft, their profession, and their contribution to the future of aviation.

We partner with instructors who bring real‑world experience, long‑term commitment, and deep instructional expertise.
Many of our team members already fly for mainline carriers, while others come from established professional careers where discipline, leadership, and precision are non‑negotiable. What unites them is a shared dedication to elevating pilot training and shaping safer aviators.

When you train with Navion you’re not just getting flight hours—you’re gaining mentorship from instructors who have invested their lives in flight training. They bring a level of maturity, judgment, and instructional depth that simply can’t be matched by traditional Flight Training Units.

Ivan Ma

From his earliest memories, aviation has been woven into the fabric of Ivan life. His journey began as a young enthusiast, logging thousands of virtual hours on Microsoft Flight Simulator—from FS2004 to FSX—long before he ever stepped into a real cockpit. That early passion followed him across continents when he moved to Canada at age 14 and joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, where his dedication quickly stood out. During the Advanced Aviation Technology Course, Ivan earned both the Highest Academic Achievement Award and recognition as the Top OPC Cadet, setting the tone for a career defined by discipline, curiosity, and excellence.

Ivan’s flying career took off at the York Soaring Association in Ontario, where he completed his Glider Pilot Licence in 2012. Training on the Schweizer 2‑33, Grob 103, and ASK‑21, he developed a strong foundation in energy management, precision, and situational awareness. In 2013, he expanded into powered flight, earning his Recreational Pilot Permit in Saskatoon while flying Cessna 150s out of the busy Saskatoon International Airport. Two years later, he completed his Private Pilot Licence at Pitt Meadows Airport in British Columbia.

Today, Ivan holds a Commercial Pilot Licence, Group 1 Instrument Rating, and Flight Instructor Rating, reflecting years of steady progression and commitment to professional airmanship.

Aviation has always been more than a hobby for Ivan—it is a lifelong passion. He believes deeply in systematic training, safety‑driven decision‑making, and disciplined airmanship. Drawing from his professional background in project management, where he delivers large capital projects, Ivan incorporates structured planning, risk management, and continuous improvement into his flight training approach. He sees strong parallels between effective project execution and effective flying: clarity, preparation, and consistency lead to safer outcomes.

Ivan has experience on a wide range of aircraft, including the Schweizer 2‑33, Grob 103, ASK‑21, DG‑1000, C150, C152, C172, Piper Seneca II, DA20, and DA40. Whether instructing new pilots or helping licensed aviators refine their skills, he brings a calm, methodical, and safety‑focused presence to every flight.
